MISSION STATEMENT
The Laurens Public Library maintains current titles reflecting popular cultural and social trends plus recreational experiences; provides information and answers to a broad array of topics; offers local history and genealogy services; promotes lifelong learning opportunities for community residents and facilitates interaction and participation in community activities.    

HISTORY
In March 1904 the citizens of Laurens voted in favor of establishing a free public library to be known as Laurens Public Library.  One hundred years later this state accredited library is an active educational, social, and cultural institution for the community.  A Carnegie Library building served the community from 1910-1975.   An intensive community fund drive resulted in the dedication of the present building in 1976
      

SERVICES
The library’s collection of adult and children books, videos, audios and reference materials number 25,700 with a circulation of 30,000 for 2005.  Community services provided include patron computers with Internet access, Interlibrary Loan, summer reading programs for children, book-basket delivery, and cultural events sponsored by the Laurens Public Library Foundation.
